Southern 3D — End of Year Wrap-Up (2025)

As 2025 winds down, one thing is crystal clear: Southern 3D is alive, loud, and flying harder than ever. This year wasn’t just about airplanes—it was about people, passion, and pushing limits together.

Across the South, pilots kept showing up with bigger airframes, cleaner setups, and more confidence on the sticks. From sunrise trimming flights to late-night LED chaos, the flying never really stopped. The skill level across the scene keeps climbing, and what used to look impossible is now just another maneuver in the sequence.

A Year of Growth

2025 saw more pilots stepping into true giant-scale 3D. 100–120cc airframes became common sights, not unicorns. We watched pilots move from “surviving the hover” to owning the box—locked-in waterfalls, lower torque rolls, and slower, more controlled harriers than ever before.

Equally important, we saw new faces welcomed in. Fewer egos. More buddy-boxing. More “try my plane” moments. That matters. Southern 3D has always been about skill and community—and this year proved that balance is working.

Events That Mattered

Whether it was major fly-ins or informal weekend throw-downs, the energy was consistent: fly hard, help each other, and have fun doing it. Big events like Joe Nall once again reminded everyone why the South is such a powerhouse in the RC world—but just as many memories were made at small fields with a handful of pilots and a cooler in the shade.

The Culture Is Strong

One of the best signs of a healthy scene? Builders building. Pilots experimenting. People sharing setups instead of guarding them. In 2025, we saw smarter power systems, cleaner radio installs, better gyro tuning, and a noticeable jump in mechanical reliability. Less wrenching, more flying—that’s a win.

And yes… the night flying got crazier. If you know, you know.

Looking Ahead to 2026

The bar has been raised, and that’s exciting. More pilots are ready to travel. More events are being talked about. More aircraft are being planned. Southern 3D is heading into 2026 with momentum—and momentum is dangerous in the best possible way.

If you flew with us this year, thank you.
If you watched from the fence, next year’s your year.
And if you’re building something big in the shop right now—don’t worry, we’ll hear it soon enough.

Blue skies, tight lines, and low hovers.
See you in 2026.
